Setting up a Dashboard in Analytics

2 Oct, 2015 McKell Naegle

What are Google Analytics dashboards?

Google Analytics dashboards are collections of customizable widgets. They allow you to quickly view your site data while customizing which data you want to see. They can be set up for different users and for agency or client use, and they give you the most useful and relevant data for quick access.

How to Set Up a Google Analytics Dashboard

1. Locate the dashboards. It is on the left column, after navigating to the “Reporting” tab.

3. Next, you must decide which type of dashboard you want to setup—either a blank canvas (no widgets) or a starter dashboard (default set of widgets). Name your widget and click “Create Dashboard.”

4. Customize your dashboard.

There are many different options to create and customize your dashboard. This includes layout options and the ability to add a variety of widgets. You can change or add new dashboards as your Google Analytics needs change.

A great tool used for customizing your dashboard is the Google Solutions Gallery. Here you can both share custom dashboards you’ve created as well as find popular dashboards for your own use.
