In a time when most agencies around the country have unfortunately faced layoffs and furloughs, we at Fluid have been lucky to see growth. The latest member of the team: Shain Wiederholt, a copywriter.
What brings you to Fluid?
Fluid is a great agency, and one I’ve been trying to get in the door for a while now. It just so happens that the stars aligned, and everything fell into place!
What’s your stadium intro song?
“Rock You Like A Hurricane” by the Scorpions.
You could’ve chosen any career in the world, why copywriting?
As a kid, I didn’t know that people wrote anything other than novels for a profession, so I always told myself I would never be a writer. In high school, I wanted to be a war photojournalist for the Marines. I began to look for something safer and that’s when I met a creative director from Wieden + Kennedy and I was hooked. Now I look back and enjoy the irony.
What’s your favorite item in your closet?
Item? A body. Clothes? My cardigan collection.
*I don’t actually have a body in my closet.
What’s your hidden talent?
Embracing awkward situations. And touching my nose with my tongue.
What do you enjoy about advertising?
Early bird or night owl?
I’ve been both for so long that I don’t remember which I used to prefer.
When you’re not working on compelling, award-winning copy for our clients, what are you up to?
Metal detecting. Collecting Pokémon cards. Totally destroying my son in tickle fights (I’m a little competitive). Telling dad jokes. Laughing at said dad jokes.
Is a calzone a sandwich? Defend your answer.
No. In my mind, calzones are just Italian potstickers.
What are some other facts about you?
I may have an addiction to Mountain Dew, but only normal MD—I’m a purist.
I love to cook.
Born and raised in Montana but claim Oregon as my home.
I have 9 siblings. Two I’ve never met, one of which I’m not sure knows about me.
Gimme one more fact.
Wieder is German for repeat, so I’ve always wanted to have a junior. Because it would be a pun. He’s not conceived yet, but it’s already a rocky relationship.
We’re overjoyed to have him on our team, but we’re truly excited to see what great ideas Shain brings to our clients.
