The Best of the Best – Smartphone Edition

6 Oct, 2015 McKell Naegle

It seems as though every year the newest devices get faster, lighter and prettier than they were the year before. 2015 has brought in some pretty amazing mobile devices so far, and we’ve compiled a list of the best of the best. This is the first part of a three part series. Feel free to also check out our picks for best laptops and best tablets as well.

The Samsung Galaxy S6, which hit retailers April 10 of this year, is easily the best smartphone on the market. Trending on Twitter as #TheNextBigThing, it has amazing specifications and the price tag to match. Its price ranges from $199 to a whopping $679, but if you have the money for it, the S6 is worth every penny. It boasts a 5.1-inch display with a 1440 by 2560 resolution. It uses the newest Android 5.0 operating system (Lollipop) and has a cleaner design and user interface. It comes with 32, 64, or 128 GB of memory and 3 GB of RAM. Its battery life is decent, with up to 17 hours of moderate usage. It also has a fingerprint scanner that will help you protect your information better than ever before.

The iPhone 6 plus is a little bit heavier than the Galaxy S6, but it’s also quite a bit bigger than most phones on the market right now. The phablet weighs in at 6.07 ounces with a 6.22-inch high display. It uses the easy-to-understand iOS operating system and comes with 16, 64, or 128 GB of storage plus 1 GB of RAM. Combine this with an amazing camera, elegant design, and a solid battery life, and it’s clear that the iPhone 6 Plus is a big competitor in the smartphone industry, in more ways than one.

The HTC One M9 ends up being the cheapest of our options, with prices ranging from $199 to $644. It has a 5-inch 1080 by 1920 display, 32 GB of storage, and 3 GB of RAM. Its battery life is a measly 3 hours, but the M9 mostly makes up for it with a gorgeous design and strong camera.
