One of the most important things to know when starting out with Google Search Console is how to connect your website. This article will describe the steps to take when connecting Google Search Console to a WordPress site.
Step 1: Go to Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools), enter your site and click “Add Property.”
Step 2: Verify ownership of your site.
There are several ways to do this. The first and recommended method is HTML file upload.
In addition, there are four alternate methods: HTML tag, domain name provider, Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager. One of the easiest alternative methods is through adding the HTML tag to your website.
Through the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin, you can easily copy the code from Google Search Console to your WordPress site.
On your WordPress site, navigate to SEO on the sidebar > General > Webmaster Tools > Add your code.
Step 4: Once you’ve verified your site ownership through any of the approved methods, navigate back to Google Search Console, click verify, and you’re done!
