Every family has their own, unique holiday traditions that they celebrate together year after year. They help bring people, families, and friends together, and are often passed down from generation to generation — creating lasting memories that people remember and cherish forever.
My Favorite Tradition
My family is no different. And while one of my favorite tradition doesn’t always fall directly on a holiday like Christmas or New Year’s, it usually comes sometime during the holiday season. On the first real snowfall of every year, my family, including all my cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents, get together and make what we call ‘snow donuts’. So what’s a snow donut you ask? Snow donuts are homemade donuts that we make with my grandma’s recipe. We cover them with frosting, powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar and whatever else we might like. So on that day where it first snows, just about every one of my cousins calls my grandma asking if we are making donuts that night. I love this tradition not only because I get to spend time with my family, but because of how excited everyone in my family gets about it. It’s also something I’ve done every year for as long as I can remember and I can’t imagine not doing it. I still get just as excited now as I did when I was little. I love being able to have this time to catch up with all of my cousins that are more than family, they’re also my life-long friends.
Please share with us any of your favorite traditions! If you aren’t already involved in some, start one yourself! You won’t regret it.
