The best WordPress Plugins

WordPress has exploded in recent years with an estimated 69 million sites. It creates a unique environment where users can easily create and manage quality websites, both personal and professional.

While many might say that WordPress has limited means of personalization, those who keep up to date with the best WordPress plugins have found great free solutions.

Fluid uses WordPress every day. This site is WordPress, our clients love WordPress, and we actively develop WordPress. Fluid is no stranger to the additions that plugins bring to WordPress sites. Here is a list of some of the plugins we frequently use.

  1. Jetpack:

Jetpack essentially allows the user to connect to features offered on wordpress.com. We love the ability to add custom CSS, the contact forms, and carousel features. For a list of all the features Jetpack has to offer, click here!

  1. Contact Form 7:

Contact Form 7 is the free alternative to Gravity forms (although they are completely different). It provides an easily customizable platform that is equally simple on the backend. We use it for many of the contact forms we use across the sites we build.

  1. WordPress SEO by Yoast:

This plugin is a must if you want to get noticed online. This is a plugin that helps you write optimized content as well as the basic technical optimization. It allows you to preview snipers and see what your site or post will look like in search results. It also points search engines to specific parts of your site.

  1. Google XML Sitemaps:

Basically, Google XML Sitemaps helps search engines index your site. It also provides a structure so that crawlers can be more efficient when they “look” at your site. Another cool features that comes with this plugin is how it notifies search engines about new content every time you publish it.

  1. Duplicator:

This is a great tool to package, clone, or even back up your WordPress site, though it is not for the novice user. Use this one with caution, and if in doubt don’t do it. This is what we use to package sites and transfer them from our local server to the client.

  1. Meta Slider:

We consider this to be one of the better free sliders out there. It allows the user to pick from 4 different formats and easily embed them into their blog. It makes things as simple as dragging and dropping and includes the options to add captions and much more.

  1. Advanced Custom Fields

We use this plugin in almost every site we produce. It gives us so many more options in terms of contact forms sitewide. It supports a way to create fields and use multiple input styles. From there, the forms are easily assigned to specific pages.

There are hundreds more. Check back in the coming weeks for more from us about WordPress.
